F4Goals vs Todoist: which task manager fits?

Todoist is a mature, polished general-purpose to-do app. F4Goals is a smaller tool built around one idea: tasks have a percentage, and they nest. Here is where each one wins.

The short version

Choose Todoist if you want reminders, recurring tasks, due dates, labels, integrations or to share tasks with other people. It does all of that, on many platforms, and it has had years of polish.
Choose F4Goals if your main frustration is that long work shows as undone until the day it is finished, and you want to slide a task to 60%, nest subtasks without limit and see one project percentage that updates itself. It is free, personal and deliberately small.

Where Todoist is the better choice

Due dates, reminders and recurring tasks. F4Goals has none of these.
Collaboration. Todoist lets you share projects and assign tasks; F4Goals is single-user.
Organisation tools such as labels, filters and search, plus a large integration ecosystem.
Platforms. Todoist is on iOS, Android, web and desktop; F4Goals is web and Android only.

Where F4Goals is the better choice

Partial progress. Every task has a 0–100% value you set by sliding it, instead of two states.
A project percentage that averages every task and subtask, so it moves when you slide any of them.
Unlimited nesting. Subtasks of subtasks have no depth limit.
Drag to restructure. Reorder, re-parent or move between projects by dragging.
Free, with no paid tier to hit a limit on.

How the two treat a long task

In Todoist, a task is open or completed. A parent task can show how many of its subtasks are finished, which is useful, but the unit of progress is still a checked box. A task you are 70% through is, to Todoist, not done.
In F4Goals the task is the unit and the percentage is the point. You can leave a task at 70% and the project percentage reflects that. If you finish work in many small ticks, Todoist’s model fits well; if you do work in long stretches that never fit in a tick, F4Goals’s does.

Using both

They are not mutually exclusive. Some people keep reminders and recurring chores in a general to-do app and use F4Goals for the handful of large projects where they want to see the percentage move.
Feature lists change. The comparison reflects each product’s publicly documented features as we understand them in October 2026, so check Todoist’s own site before you decide.

Questions

Is F4Goals a good Todoist alternative?

It is an alternative if what you want is partial progress and unlimited nested subtasks. It is not a full replacement: it has no reminders, recurring tasks, sharing or iOS app.

Does Todoist show a progress percentage on tasks?

Tasks in Todoist are open or completed, and parents can show how many subtasks are finished. F4Goals is different in that you set a 0–100% value on any task by sliding it.

Is F4Goals free?

Yes. There is no paid tier and no card is required.

Can I import my Todoist tasks into F4Goals?

Not at the moment. F4Goals has no import, so you would re-enter the tasks you want to keep.

Try it on your own work.

F4Goals is free. Create a project, add a few subtasks and slide the first one.
